Museum of Discovery and Science Eco Discovery Center – Fort Lauderdale

Client: Museum of Discovery and Science

Opening in November 2011 the new Eco Discovery addition to the existing Museum of Discovery and Science in downtown Fort Lauderdale features a 34,000 SF building addition and several unique exhibits. 

BTE was responsible for all civil engineering design, permitting and construction administration.

As with most urban projects the design and construction team worked hand in hand to overcome several challenges ranging from unforeseen existing underground storm drainage and plumbing lines to construction of new infrastructure around existing facility operations.

Safety and security were a high priority on this site as the existing museum operations (involving families and children) were maintained throughout construction.
